SUMMARY

This book, "The  emblematic murder of Tucapel Jiménez: the Condor wants flesh", reveals both the brutal and shocking military operation that saw the end of the trade union leader and the cover up and clean up actions on account of another four related crimes.

Five army Generals and dozens of Officers and Secret Service personnel from the Intelligence Agencies under the orders of the Military Government, where involved in these sinister operations. This network of conspiracies is uncovered though research work which accurately describes many intrigues and episodes with protagonists who are identified by their full real names.

The author unveils the many techniques used by the Army Intelligence Group (DINE), to avoid their men from being tried. He also shows the work carried out by judges and detectives who went after the two criminal organizations, describing their human and professional dimensions, as well as their colossal mistakes and their huge success in establishing truth and justice.

Most operations involved the regime’s same group of henchmen, with the pathological mission to exterminate political opponents. So much so, that when Major Julio Corbalán Castilla urged his officers in the CNI to call out names of left wing opponents to be eliminated, he would stand up and shout: "¡¡¡¡Come on then, the Condor wants flesh!!!", thus implying that their leader (Pinochet) wanted more of their enemies’ blood. This is why this book could be called “The black book of the Chilean Military Intelligence".

The period which the book covers spans from 1981 to early 2004. For a better understanding of these acts, the exact national and international socio-political context is described, establishing the main political, judicial, cultural and police related facts occurred in Chile and around the world along those 23 years.

As a result the reader will find inside the 370 pages (plus previously unpublished secret documents and photographs) that the same group of agents, mostly from the Chilean army, was involved in both common crimes and secret political persecution operations.
